How to request access, correction, restriction, or deletion of personal data associated with Kitara Foundation services.
KITARA-DATA-001 · Version 1.0 · Effective 30 August 2026
Subject to applicable law (including Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019), you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability/export where applicable, and withdrawal of consent where consent is the basis for processing. See the Privacy Notice.
Email info@kitarafoundation.org with subject line Privacy / Data Deletion Request.
Include only enough information for us to identify the relevant account or data:
Do not email passwords, OTP codes, bank passwords, payment-card numbers, or private keys.
To prevent unauthorised deletion or disclosure, we may ask for reasonable verification that you are the person (or authorised representative) associated with the data. Verification is intended to be proportional to the sensitivity of the request.
We aim to process valid requests within the period required by applicable law. Complex or safeguarding-related requests may take longer.
Deletion is not always immediate or absolute. We may retain information where necessary for child-protection duties, legal or accounting obligations, fraud/security investigations, dispute resolution, audit, or regulatory requirements. Data removed from active systems may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups expire. We may keep minimal audit records showing that a request was processed.
Community members may also update profile details in-app under Profile. Closing an account or deleting associated stories/comments/giving logs can be requested by email as above. Published stories that are part of the public record may require editorial review before removal.
